Founded as the American Institute of Graphic Arts in 1914 as a small, exclusive club, AIGA is the oldest and largest professional membership organization for design. With more than 70 chapters, 18,000 members, and 150 student groups—AIGA works to enhance the value and deepen the impact of design across all disciplines on business, society, and our collective future.

AIGA inspires, educates, and informs designers, helping them to realize their talents and to advocate the value of design among the media, the business community, public agencies, and the general public.

Our AIGA Saint Louis chapter works under the motto: Unite By Design. Our goal is to support and strengthen our local, diverse design community while advancing the understanding and value of design.

We support the interests of professionals, educators, and students from a variety of disciplines—from book and type design, to traditional communication design disciplines, to newer disciplines of interaction design, experience design, and motion graphics. We’re also committed to furthering excellence in communication design as a broadly-defined discipline and strategic tool for business and cultural impact.

Ultimately, we seek to provide a space where design professionals can exchange ideas and information, participate in critical analysis and research, and advance education and ethical practice.
