July Community Board Meeting

Join AIGA Saint Louis on Monday, July 19 from 7:00–8:00 p.m. for our Community Board Meeting. This month, we’ll welcome Lennie Gray Mowris who will be leading a discussion about Community by Design.

Community design is all about relationships and effective communication. Together, we’ll explore the questions: how do we design with, and for, community? And, how do we make sure that our intentions are well matched to community needs and available resources? We’ll also explore ideas around developing healthy power dynamics, engaging diversity & inclusion, simple sustainability strategies, creating a theory of change, and evaluating our impact.

Leading this discussion is Lennie Gray Mowris, a storyteller by nature and craft and an avid believer in the power of story to open hearts, change minds, and motivate others. A “Magically Disgruntled Manifestor” at Lenspeace, an award-winning impact design, and community letterpress studio, Lennie brings tradition and innovation together to communicate on behalf of a world that needs all the love it can get. An active member of AIGA for 10 years, Lennie serves as the Design for Good Director for AIGA-ATL, and is the co-author of AIGA’s Path to Impact, an accessible methodology for sustainable socially responsible design, which now serves as the foundation for all of her work.

Lennie has also been communicating on behalf of alternative health and sustainability movements for more than 20 years. A respected voice around the world for her perspectives on integrative humanity, self-actualization, and sustainable lifestyles, Lennie worked at the forefront of the communications initiatives that made veganism a household term and ushered green juices, smoothies, and raw foods into mass culture.

Combining her 15 years in communications design with training in design thinking & community impact facilitation, Lennie’s latest endeavor is partnering with her former AIGA Design for Good Task Force members to found Impactologie.
